Streaming Music: The Living Room TV and bedroom HomePods have Apple Music and can stream popular music without the need to connect your devices to them. Apple Music is included during your stay. You can also use your personal Apple devices, that are connected to the Wifi, to stream music to the various wireless speakers in the home using Airplay.

When music is playing, Siri can stream it to all of the speakers in the home by saying “Hey Siri, play this music everywhere”. If preferred, you can choose which speakers (or TV speakers) to stream music to from the following list that is available from your Apple iOS device or from the living room TV or via Airplay:

    Guest Bedroom TV

    Guest Bedroom (HomePod)

    Guest Bedroom (EcoBee)

    Kitchen (EcoBee)

    Living Room (EcoBee)

    Living Room TV

    Living Room Speakers

    Master Bedroom TV

    Master Bedroom (EcoBee)

    Master Bedroom (HomePod)

Most often you will likely just say “hey Siri, play…” followed by your favorite artist/band name “on the living room speakers”. For more info or help read here.

Volume & Remotes: The Apple TV remote for the Living Room TV will adjust the volume of audio playing on the Living Room television which always plays audio through the Sonos Surround sound system. The volume of other devices can be adjusted per device by using the remote control for that device (ex: Master Bedroom TV), by using the volume buttons on the device (ex: Sonos speaker buttons; Apple HomePod buttons; EcoBee (thermostat) volume slider) or by adjusting the volume settings in Airplay Audio on your personal device (ex: from iPhone music app press the bottom middle AirPlay icon to adjust individual device volumes). You may also be able to adjust the volume using “Hey Siri, turn the volume down.”. Results may vary depending on a myriad of configurations and where previous guests were last streaming music to.

If the Apple TV remote is not responding then the battery needs to be charged. The charger is located in the center of the media cabinet under the TV. The remote will charge to 80% in about 15 minutes and will last for many months on a single charge.

  • Master Bath: The master bath has a wall switch for turning on the ventilation. Please use this vent during showers (and for at least 10 mins following) or as otherwise desired.

Second Bath: The guest bathroom has an air exchanger that runs constantly and cannot be turned off. This venting system removes stagnant indoor air and moisture from the bathroom while conditioning outside air and ventilating it back inside the home. The unit is very quiet and cannot be turned off. Please rest assured that the bathroom is venting properly, albeit slower than a high speed ventilator.

Condensation: To quickly reduce condensation in the bathroom simply turn the wall heater on.

  • Click to see the walking map. To get to the Amphitheater turn right out the door. Turn left at the vineyard. Take the next right and then an immediate left. Keep walking a short distance towards the cliffs where you will find Gate 2, the side-fence entrance on your right. Once through the fence continue through to the campground then to the main entrance gate of the Gorge Amphitheatre.

  • There is a large dumpster parked just alongside the unfinished section of the neighborhood road/loop and can be accessed by following the roadway around the lake in either direction. Unfortunately recycling is unavailable at this time. We would encourage you to take clean recyclables back home with you whenever it is reasonable. Please message us if you have any questions or concerns.

  • Front Door: The Yale lock requires that the door is VERY firmly closed to engage properly. Please pull or push the door closed with plenty of force before engaging the lock. When leaving, the lock will make a simple and pleasant sound when it is bolted properly. A longer series of unpleasant sounds can be heard when the bolt is not engaged properly, despite the door feeling locked; just pull the door closed more firmly and then press the Yale button again until you hear the pleasant chime.

    Unlock:

    1. Press Yale to wake the lock from sleep.

    2. Enter the code provided in your email.

    3. Press the checkmark.

    Lock:

    1. Outside: Press Yale logo

    2. Inside: Twist turn-piece to lock or “Hey Siri, lock the front door”.

Sliding Doors: Close the doors all the way and toggle the latch. Pull handles to ensure doors are locked.

  • Fire Bowl: The custom made outdoor fire bowl has an extremely hight (190,000) BTU rating, and the flames get very hot and high quickly. The fire can be turned on by using the valve key to turn on the gas, and concurrently pressing the ignitor button to ignite the flame.

To Turn On: The gas valve key is located on the metal shelf inside the living room, just next to the indoor fireplace. Using the gas key, turn the gas valve on on the fire bowl (you will likely hear gas) while concurrently pressing the ignitor button on the fire bowl; the bowl will indicate which direction to turn the key to ensure the valve is on. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you keep hair, clothing and combustible materials clear of the top of the fire bowl when igniting the flame; the flames can combust with intensity so use caution. If the flame doesn’t immediately light, turn the gas valve to all the way to the off position and wait 15 seconds for gas to dissipate before trying to ignite it again. Alternatively, a long match, or extended armed lighter, can be used to ignite the flame by placing a lit flame immediately next to any of the copper metal pipes extending out of the rocks on the bowl WHILE turning the gas valve on.

Turn Off: Using the valve key, turn the gas valve to the off position. The flames should be entirely extinguished. PLEASE ensure the gas is all the way off before walking away. After turning the valve off please return the key to the metal shelf in the living room.

NEVER leave the gas fire bowl ignited and unattended for any length of time. NEVER leave the fire bowl on and ignited overnight, especially when there are winds and flying debris.

  • Indoor Fireplace: The fireplace is controlled using the white RAIS handset (wireless remote) sitting on the shelf next to the fireplace.

Ignite: Press the power button on the handset until you hear a short beep. Then release the button. The main gas supply starts and the flame will ignite in approximately 15-25 seconds.

Adjust Flame: On the handset, the flame height is increased or decreased by pressing the buttons with the up or down arrow.

Extinguish: Press the power button on the handset while pointing it directly at the fireplace.

The remote is more complicated than necessary, so we suggest using just the power button and the arrow buttons only; auto-programs, automations and other settings that you may not desire can be programmed by pressing the other buttons. Please return the remote to the shelf prior to departure.

WARNING! DO NOT place any objects on the top/level surface of the fireplace as it will get hot!

  • This is the best way to heat up your gas grill for the perfect barbecue:

    First open the lid.

    1) Turn the controller to ‘high’ and wait two to three seconds for the gas to accumulate in the ignition chamber.

    2) Next, press the igniter button. The burner should start burning immediately the first or second time you press it. As soon as the first burner heats up, turn the following burners on too.

    3) Now close the lid and preheat the barbecue to the desired temperature.

Place your food on the cooking grate. Adjust the gas supply to the burners to the temperature specified in the recipe and required for the cooking method.

Once finished grilling your food, please ensure the burners are completely off and the fire is extinguished.

  • Forced Air: 4 zones of heating or cooling can be controlled manually with the Ecobee smart thermostats. Note the system cannot heat one room while cooling another (ex: Heating a bedroom while Cooling the living room will not work). Considering the complexity of the heating/cooling system we prefer to adjust temperatures using the touch panel. Feel free to try “Hey Siri” - just note that specific commands may confuse Siri if guests have inadvertently adjusted settings on the EcoBee. If you’re having difficulty adjusting the temperature we are happy to do it remotely — just shoot us a message!

Heated Flooring: Single zone heated cement flooring is controlled by the white digital thermostat/touch panel in the entryway, just to the left of the Ecobee on that same wall; all floors can heat besides the bedrooms and the master bathroom. The floors take a few hours to reach the desired temperature but they are the most efficient way to keep, and feel warm. To increase or decrease the temperature of the flooring press on the digital thermostat to wake it, then adjust the temp as desired. If you would like to have us adjust other settings or reprogram the schedule for the floors please message us.

Indoor Fireplace: The fireplace is controlled using the white RAIS handset (wireless remote) sitting on the shelf next to the fireplace.

TO IGNITE: While pointing it directly at the fireplace, press ⏻ the power button on the handset until you hear a short beep. Then release the button. The main gas supply opens and the flame should ignite in approximately 15-25 seconds. Multiple attempts might be required to ignite the fireplace.

TO EXTINGUISH: Press ⏻ the power button on the handset while pointing it directly at the fireplace.

ADJUST FLAME: On the handset, the flame height is increased or decreased by pressing the buttons with the up ꜛ or down ꜜ arrow.

The remote is complicated. We suggest using just the power button and the arrow buttons. Programs, automations and other settings that you may not desire can be programmed by pressing the other buttons.

WARNING: DO NOT place any objects on the top/level surface of the fireplace as it will get hot!

Patio Heater (heat lamp): The front patio has an electric radiant heat lamp. To operate the heater open the small gray timer box, located on the exterior of front sliding door wall, and gently turn the dial to the right to the desired time; DO NOT force the heater dial counterclockwise, even when departing the patio, or it may break; just let the timer run it’s course. The heater will illuminate red when it’s hot - about 4 mins to reach its maximum temperature. The front couches are positioned to maximize the comfort and warmth from the heat lamp. DO NOT move the couches as they are screwed into the cement.

Towel Heaters: The heated towel racks can be turned on and off by an illuminated toggle switch located underneath the left vertical rail when facing the unit. The units get hot in ~10 mins and the temperature cannot be adjusted. We recommend leaving the towel heaters off if you have infants or small children with you.

Wall Heaters > Bathrooms: Heating (only) can be adjusted in each bathroom by raising and lowering the digital thermostat on the bathroom wall. Please press the lower left quarter of the touchscreen to adjust the temperature. Please note the temperature and fan will revert to previous settings after 1 hour. Caution should be taken when using these heaters with towels and fabrics nearby as this can be a fire hazard.

  • SAFETY: Disease, harm, injury or death can occur when using a hot tub. Please follow the rules to ensure a safe and comfortable experience.

Unlocking & Opening the Hot Tub:

    1) Unclip the 2 front (lakeside) clips by pinching the outer edges - there are NO back clips; DO NOT attempt to unclip anything but the front clips.

    2) Fold the front of the cover back and over the metal bar towards the wall.

    3) Lift the folded cover, or the exposed edges of the metal bar, towards the wall until the cover is vertical.

    4) Adjust the temperature as desired. If it’s cold outside, close the lid while you wait for the temperature to reach your desired setting.

Closing & Locking the Hot Tub:

To close the hot tub reverse the process above. Always latch the clips on the cover between uses. If needed, tug the cover towards you lightly as the clips are intentionally tight to prevent wind from lifting the cover.

RULES: When not in use, the hot tub lid MUST BE closed and locked with the temperature set to 95 degrees or lower.

    1. Please shower with soap & water before use.

    2. Please wipe sands/dirt off of feet and legs before climbing in.

    3. Enter & exit slowly to prevent slipping or falling.

    4. No jumping or diving allowed.

    5. Limit soak time to 15 or 20 mins.

    6. If you have heart disease, diabetes, high or low blood pressure or any serious illness, you should consult a doctor before use.

    7. Do not adjust temperature more than two times in a 5 min period as this can damage the heaters.

    8. Do not bring glass into or near the Hot Tub.

    9. Do not use alcohol, narcotics or medications.

    10. Do not enter if the temperature is over 104 degrees.

    11. Do not sit or lie down on the cover.

    12. Do not use soaps or oil or any additive in the Hot Tub.

    13. Children must be supervised by an adult.

    14. Elderly persons, and pregnant women, should consult a doctor before use.

    15. Lower temperature to 95 degrees or lower when you exit the hot tub.

  • Cave B Tasting Room Reservations: IndoorOutdoorPrivate Club Cave

Reservations are recommended at our Quincy tasting room, especially during the summer months, for both our upstairs outdoor deck and inside our beautiful tasting room upstairs. We do keep some tables for walk-ins both inside and outside as well as we do get very busy at times; seating is not guaranteed for walk-ins. During Gorge concert weekends (the amphitheatre is located directly next door) we turn OFF our reservations and switch to a walk-in basis only, and set up our tastings differently outside on our front lawn to allow for increased traffic.

Just walk on over from the Gorge parking lot through our side gate found at the south end of the Gorge Oasis camping areas.

Most summers our beautiful piazza and our downstairs cave (the latter on concert days) will be open for daily picnics, bottle sales and glass pours only. Start with a 1 hour tasting upstairs and then join us in the piazza, in the cave, or on our front lawn for a picnic and a bottle of wine.

  • Bedroom TVs: Remotes are black, small and display “TCL • Roku TV” on the bottom-front. Turn on/off by pressing Red button. Press the Home button to display Home Screen. Volume and Mute buttons are on right side of remote. Live TV is free of charge using many different apps that you can install or that may already be installed - press left arrow to display TV Guide after selecting “Live TV”; we recommend using the Tubi app for free TV and Movies. Press OK to confirm selections. Streaming apps are available also, but our accounts may be logged out by other guests. If you do login with your own streaming video account we recommend logging out of your account(s) prior to checkout. This may require deleting the application, which is done by pressing Home, hovering over the app you’d like to uninstall or logout of, then pressing the asterisks on the remote to bring up the menu of options for the specific app. Please note the TVs allow for hundreds of apps, configurations and user-specific configurations and we do not provide tech support considering the myriad options available. We try to be diligent about logging guests out of their personal accounts when our family stays at the home. :)

Living Room TV: The Apple TV remote controls all necessary functions for the television and no other remote is required. The remote is small, aluminum and has black buttons; it’s typically on the coffee table. Press the “Power” then scroll through the included streaming services/apps that are logged in: Netflix, Apple TV+, Apple Music, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, MAX, Disney+. The button with the television icon, and/or the back button, will return you to the main Home Screen depending on what app you are in at the moment. You can also speak commands to the remote by clicking and holding the small button on the upper right side of the remote (ex: “show me new popular movies”, “play Blade Runner”, “show family movies”). Please do not attempt to purchase or rent programming, and please do not download new applications on this TV - the apps will require a pin code and it will prompt our cell phones with a notification. :)

The TVs may be able to be controlled using your Apple iOS devices that is connected to the Wifi network. To use this feature swipe down from the top of your screen and then open the Remote widget in iOS Control Center. In the top middle select the TV you would like to control and the remote should pair; this may require a pin-code that will display on the TV the first time you attempt to pair.

Living Room TV Troubleshooting: If the TV is not working correctly this could be because a previous guest unplugged the Apple TV (HDMI) cable and plugged in their own device. If this is the case you can use the Samsung TV remote (often tucked in the back of the right side of the middle of the TV console shelf, or sitting in the bowl on the coffee table) to change the source of the television AFTER you’ve pressed the Apple TV Remote power button on and ensured that the Apple TV is plugged into the HDMI cable in the media console. If the tiny white light is on on the Apple TV then this means the device is on. If the Television doesn’t automatically detect the Apple TV and select the correct source within 1 min of turning it on, you can change the “Source” on the remote until you identify which input the Apple TV is plugged into. Note that you may see the Samsung Smart Hub menu, with lots of applications and streaming programming, at times when trying to configure the TV. You’re welcome to use these features with the Samsung remote if you prefer.

Please message us and we will attempt to help you if you’re lost. DO not change any TV or Apple TV settings as that can cause other smart devices, locks or lights in the home to fail.

Voice Assistance: The TVs might be able to be turned on and off using Siri voice commands (ex: "Hey Siri, turn on the Living Room TV"; "Hey Siri, turn off the Guest Bedroom TV"). Please note that Siri may not always be able to control the Living Room TV when certain HDMI devices are plugged into it, when specific inputs are selected, or when previous guests have disabled/changed certain preferences on the HomePods or Sonos devices. When in doubt use the Apple TV remote.

  • Click here to Load this shortcut on your iOS device to turn on and control the TVs.

Click: Open > Setup Shortcut > Add Shortcut

You can now use this shortcut to turn on the TVs and quickly open the iOS remote on your device.

  • Network: Lake House Best | Password: Please check AirBnB messages from us.

Connect to the wifi by pointing your smartphone camera at the QR code located at the top of this page, or the QR code located near the fireplace on the wall. Please note you need to be at the home to connect to the wifi.

The home has a 250 MGBPS fiber optic internet plan which is available via enterprise wireless routers. Speeds may vary slightly but should be plenty fast for dozens of devices streaming content at the same time.

The main router is located behind the Living Room TV, the other router sits above the kitchen cabinets over the fridge - DO NOT unplug the routers as the home lights, door lock, water purifier & other smart-home devices rely on WiFi to operate correctly.
